Kendrick Lamar does it (producing something awesome) again people. This time, Kdot asked his friend Gunplay to help him put a track together called “Cartoons and Cereal” where they both pen struggle w/ a lot of themes.

What I absolutely love about this track, is the use of irony in the hook and the verses. Cause the song can be interpreted in a few different ways:

For starters: his dad was a criminal ‘nd warns him not to follow in his footsteps ‘nd watch cartoons instead. The ironic thing here is that he was watching Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner, a show where Wile E. Coyote uses different tools ‘nd weapons just to try to kill the Road Runner. So that means that he’s avoiding real violence with armed weapons by watching cartoons with the same thing.

There’s more irony ‘nd contradiction because Wile E. is always chasing the Roadrunner. So in the song, all the other rappers in the game are Wile E. Coyotes and he is the Road Runner. In the hook he says “I run it” like the Road Runner does ‘nd all the other rappers will never catch him.

That’s basically what this song is about.. Told you it was awesome..
